Freqently Asked Questions

What is Ice Lipo (Cryolipolysis)?

Developed in the USA by Harvard University, Ice Lipo is a Fat Freezing method using cooling technology which results in a reduction of up to 20-30%* of fat cells in specific targeted areas.

Cryolipolysis stands head and shoulders above any non-invasive treatment in its ability to reduce unwanted body fat. During a Cryolipolysis treatment fat cells are destroyed using extreme cold without the need for knives or other surgical instruments.  Fat Freezing breaks down the fat cells without damaging the skin, muscle mass, and nerve fibres. During the weeks following your procedure, your body will naturally eliminate the damaged fat cells, leaving you looking slimmer.

Cryolipolysis has proved itself to be a much safer alternative to going under the knife and, more cost effective too.

*Individual results wil vary from person to person.

Is the treatment painful?

No, the Ice Lipo Fat Freezing treatment is non-invasive, there’s no need for anaesthesia or pain killers, with no recovery time. The process is very comfortable for many clients who can read, work on their laptop, listen to music or just relax throughout the procedure. You will be ready to return to your regular routine right after treatment.

Are there any side effects following Ice Lipo Fat Freezing?

As a result of the cooling, you may feel some numbness during treatment, and the treatment area may be red afterward, but this usually fades within a few hours.

How long will the Ice Lipo Fat Freezing treatment take?

The Wiltshire Inch Loss Clinic has invested in the latest technology allowing treatment of up to four areas at one time Typically, an appointment will take around one hour. This will be determined in the initial free consultation.

What results can I expect?

Ice Lipo is ideal for smaller pockets of fat that are diet and exercise resistant. It can effectively remove 20 to 30%* of the fat in the treatment area.

Results appear gradually during the weeks following the procedure as your body uses its own natural waste-removal system to eliminate the damaged fat cells. Some clients benefit from multiple treatments spaced over a few months. *Results will vary from person to person.

Can the fat grow back?

The Ice Lipo treatment crystalizes fat cells which are then absorbed by the body natural processes.  Once destroyed, the same fat cells cannot grow back providing that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid excess fat intake. Cryolipolysis works through a process called apoptosis. Apoptosis eliminates fat cells by programming their cell death without harming surrounding tissue. By puberty one has as many fat cells as they are going to have in a lifetime. When we gain weight the fat cells expand and when weight is lost they shrink. By reducing the fat pad through Cryolipolysis, there are that many few fat cells to grow or shrink.

Who is a candidate for Ice Lipo?

The best candidates have small pockets of resistant fat that they want to remove. If your goal is to lose a great deal of weight, Ice Lipo may not be an option for you. Ideal candidates for Ice Lipo should be within 2 stone of their ideal weight and should be otherwise healthy. Fat Freezing is unsuitable for pregnant women and those with breastfeeding infants.

Do I need a consultation before Ice Lipo Fat Freezing treatment?

We are able to carry out a telephone consultation initially if you would like to find out more about Ice Lipo and if the fat freezing treatment is suitable for you, without travelling to visit us.  As Cryolipolysis is not a surgical procedure, we often book a consultation & treatment on the same day. A face to face consultation is always carried out before any treatment commences.  Contact Us now for a free consultation.

How many Ice Lipo Fat Freezing sessions will I need?

Ice Lipo has the advantage of not usually requiring a course of treatment, one or two sessions are usually enough. Depending on the thickness of the fat and your personal goals fat freezing may be repeated in the same area a second time. If you choose that you would like a further reduction in the same area, preferable waiting time between sessions is approximately eight weeks to allow enough time to measure the effectiveness of the initial treatment. Clinical trial data has shown for most people, a 2nd treatment within about 2 months of the first does lead to greater reduction. As with all surgical and non surgical methods, results vary upon the individual.

Are there any aftercare requirements?

After treatment, we recommend that you increase your water intake to help flush through the lymphatic system and aid the process.
