What is Radio Frequency Micro-Needling?
Radio frequency (RF) micro-needling treatment is technology for non-surgical tightening of the loose or sagging skin. It is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line, and neck to rejuvenate and refresh the skin. It works by using specialist RF micro needling device with fine needles to create small punctures on the top layer of the skin, resulting in a trigger effect that encourages new elastin and collagen to be produced naturally. The radio frequency delivers energy deep into the dermis to add to the impact of traditional micro-needling. It can be used to treat various areas of the face and body, depending on where your imperfections are located.
What is the difference compared to traditional micro-needling?
RF micro-needling is the same procedure as traditional micro-needling, however with the added benefits of radiofrequency being distributed deep into the skin layers. The radiofrequency energy is only released when the needles reach the required destination of the skin, meaning any surrounded skin is completely protected. The treatment uses tiny insulated micro-needles which, unlike laser procedures, protects the surface of the skin from damage.
This treatment offers minimal downtime and a short recovery period, with precise depth control tailored to various skin concerns. It’s safe for all skin tones, including darker complexions, and causes minimal damage to the epidermis with a low risk of side effects. Benefits include smoother, more youthful-looking skin, reduced fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and improvement in acne scars, stretch marks, and enlarged pores.
Results
RF Micro-needling effects can be divided into those that are immediately visible and those that develop over time. Immediately after the treatment, the collagen fibres contract, making the skin tighter. However, results will develop over the next 3-12 weeks as new collagen production takes place. The new collagen is stimulated, its fibres thicken resulting in firmer and more elastic skin and fine wrinkles become smoother. This method works well for removing wrinkles around the eyes, as well as for lifting the skin and improving skin tone and elasticity. This treatment is particularly beneficial for acne scarring, it can also be used around the delicate eye area, face, décolletage and on the body including arms, abdomen, knees and thighs
